Competition Schedule

 9:00AM 
Doors Open; Practice Rounds.
Team registration and practice rounds open. Register and set up team table in Kerr or Stephens Room. Plan to be registered no later than 9:30AM.
 10:00AM 
Pre-Opening Orientation; JUDGING BEGINS.
Research Award and Technical Awards: Robot Design, Robot Programming.
 12:00PM 
Judging Ends; Lunch.
 1:00PM 
OPENING CEREMONY.
Teams will compete side-by-side in the Tilden Room.
 4:00PM 
Qualifying Rounds End; Exhibitions.
Teams are encouraged during this to time to rest, clean up their workspaces, and visit the different demonstrations and displays available.
 4:30PM 
AWARDS CEREMONY.
 5:00PM

Team Information

Team Registration Fee: $50 payable preferably via PayPal: paypal@mrreed.com. Contact us if another payment method is necessary. Fill out and submit our Team Survey via email as well so that we have a local record for your team.

Tournament Admission: Tournament admission is free to all visitors and spectators, so bring your friends!

Tournament Location: This year's event will take place in the MLK Student Union Building at UC Berkeley. The pit area and technical judging will take place in the Stephens Room, located on the 3rd floor. The actual tournament rounds will take place in the Tilden Room on the 5th floor overlooking Sproul Plaza and the Berkeley campus. See the Directions page for location specifics.

Parking: Parking meters are checked on Saturdays. The Durant Parking Structure is located one block away from the tournament venue. The entrance is on Durant Avenue, between Dana Street and Telegraph Avenue. Please rememer to take your ticket with you. Alternative parking is located at the RSF gym on Bancroft near Ellsworth Street (adjacent to tournament venue) for $1/hr.

Tournament Capacity: 16 teams. Please contact Mark Edelman or Jill Wilker of Playing at Learning for team placement concerns.

Lunch, Places to Eat: One of the awesome advantages of competing at UC Berkeley is the wonderful array of different cuisine options! The Golden Bear Cafe and Bear's Lair Dining Court are located directed next to and below the competition venue. We are also located one block from Telegraph and Bancroft restaurants. Maps and food brochures will be distributed at the event.

 
 
What to Do On Arrival

1. Arrive between at 9AM to SIGN-IN and set up pit area.

2. Obtain site map, program, match list, and presentation schedule at SIGN-IN. Teams must submit consent forms before receiving any of the above documents.

3. Locate pit area and organize team belongings. Store any personal items underneate your table and out of the aisle ways. This would be a good time to set up laptops, robots, and any table decorations. NOTE: Please do not cover team numbers.

3. Use remaining time to practice your program routines and calibrate sensors, if any. Rehearse your project presentation.
